Egyptian Queen Hatshepsut called it the "Land of the Gods." Situated between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, Djibouti is a true sentinel and, for over a century, it has been an obligatory passage between the Suez Canal and the sea routes to Asia.  French poet Arthur Rimbaud, legendary writer and adventurer Henri de Monfreid and renowned volcanologist Haroun Tazieff have all spent time there.
The Lake Assal salt bank, the Rift Valley, chaotic lava fields, limestone chimneys belching sulphur fumes along the shores of Lake Abbé, barren deserts characterise the most incredible scenery in the world.
Djibouti also has the most beautiful seabed with incomparable coral reefs and exceptional aquatic life, making it a dream diving spot.
Not far from Djibouti city, the Moucha and Maskal Islands, boasting warm waters and fine sandy beaches, have nothing to fear from any tropical paradise islands.

Populated by nomadic tribes, tireless walkers who still lead their caravans across the tracks, they are herders or townspeople who have, throughout history, preserved their rich culture and traditions.
