From the middle of the 20th century, a multitude of small aerodromes allowed foresters to replenish supplies and party in Libreville.  Gabon was the only place in the world where one could hitch a ride on an airplane!

Today, regular airlines allow people to access all regions while the train crosses the country diagonally from the coast to the valleys in the south-east, going through the Lope National Park.

Since 2002, thirteen national parks have been created.  This initiative, one of a kind in Africa, completely preserves the fauna and flora over 11% of the land in a country situated in the heart of the world's second largest equatorial forest.

A number of seaside paradises, especially to the North and South of the capital, offer water sports or simply the pleasure of relaxing to the sound of the waves.

Gabon also offers a wide variety of cultural events (music, art, dance and theatre).
